You don’t have to give up your favorite foods, just make healthy changes. For instance, if you have a craving for chocolate and eat a big piece of chocolate cake, you will have added hundreds of calories to your daily calorie consumption.

But if you eat a healthier substitution, as a sugar-free ice cream sandwich or some reduced fat chocolate cookies, you will get the chocolate  you desire at lower calories.

Try substituting  low fat and low calorie foods like low fat dairy products instead of whole milk products, 100 calorie popcorn instead of regular popcorn, lean cuts of meat, baked chips instead of regular chips, “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter” instead of butter, and fruit instead of fruit juice.

More impressively, people who keep a food journal are more likely to keep the weight off. Seeing what you put into your mouth daily helps you see the error of your ways.

By using a journal, you can see what an impact fast food or sugary foods have on your weight. And you can reduce your daily diet down to a workable size. This eating pattern will become a habit and stay with you long after you stop recording in your food logs.

This has to be the easiest way to lose weight and help your body benefit by staying a little more active.  Many of us don’t have time to go to the gym (or the desire), but you can burn off calories doing your daily routines of errands and chores.

Lawn work and gardening burn an amazing number of calories. Depending on how much you weigh and what activity you are doing, you can burn up to 700 calories an hour just by doing some yardwork.

If you have pets or children, take them to the park.  You can lose 300 calories or more in an hour of sliding, swinging and playing in the park.

If you run errands, don’t use the elevator, use the stairs. Park far away at the end of the cars when you are shopping.  These are small changes you can make to your lifestyle that can result in weight loss rewards.
